Advice needed on 07 GS 350
I'm interested in an 07 GS 350 and was hoping to get more info on prices others have paid, especially with certified pre-owned cars.
I realize there has to be a larger margin in the CPO car for the dealer, so I'm wondering what others have been able to negotiate off of the dealer's asking price for their GS. I have talked to one dealer locally that has an 07 with nav and 18" summer tires with 23,000 miles asking $38k. Edmunds has the TMV value at $34.9 for my area. Just wondering if over 10% off asking is realistic or if Edmunds even sounds right.
I am also wondering if we'll see a drop in values/cost in late 2009 when the 2010 models arrive at dealerships. I realize its hard to time the market, but just wondering if more lease returns will be hitting the market later this year and if the supply will push down the pricing.
Finally, has anyone in the Houston area had any experience working with Lexus of Clear Lake on a used car purchase?

That is way too expensive. You can wait for the 10s to arrive and you may see a new 09 for around 40k with incentives to unload them. heck you can get an 09 e350 for 38k with the incentives they have now. Makes no sense to pay even 35k for that car CPO or not. I think that car should be more around 30-33k....others will chime in too

so what do you all estimate the value of CPO to be? i'm thinking the newer the car the less it costs the dealer (assuming miles are low to avg) since an 07 probably has 2+ years of the original warranty.

Just got back from the dealer for a test drive on the 07 GS 350. (23k miles w/ navigation) The only other GS I've driven was an 08 with the same # of miles as this 07. The 08 seemed to have more power and felt quicker than the 07. Isn't the engine the same in both year models? Could there be a change in gearing or something else that makes it feel different?
Also, based on the carfax it was leased in May of 07, but the service history ends in July of 08. Is this anything to be concerned about? Just wondering if it was lacking service for the last year or the activity didn't get logged.

If you're having trouble getting a good price, shop around. Hit up Sterling McCall and Westside, and get bids from them. Let everyone know they're competing on price. Then you'll see some of those quotes drop.

Engine is the same in both models. Maybe the dealer put the 08 car into PWR ETC mode, that's a good trick.

I'm actually in Dallas, but am willing to open up my geography for the right opportunity. Although it seems like most of the dealer asking prices in TX are in line with one another.
