Default VAIS SLx XM Radio INSTALLED!

Hey guys! I know, long time no talk.

I just purchased the VAIS XM Radio package Monday. It was kind of a pita to install but ended up turning out great.

It's simple enough to remove the radio/sat unit. The hard part is pushing it back in once your done. The felt that the dealer installed to help with the squeeks kept wanting to come out. The VAIS unit fits perfectly sandwiched between the nav screen and the dvd player. You simply have to remove the 4 screws on the side of the NAV mount and slide the nav portion up and use doublesided tape to secure it (even though it fits perfectly).

I couldn't find anywhere to mount the TERK XM box so I put it in the center consol and ran the wires under the concol.

I'll take some pictures later. I was trying to take pictures through the install process, but got fed up.

Oh, the pita part was when I put the entire car back together only to read the instructions and find out I had to take it all back apart again simply to flip t he programing switches on the VAIS box.....yeah, that sucked.

How difficult is it to take apart the GS to install it? I've been pondering about HD radio for awhile. I already ahve XM, dont want to pay the monthly on it.

It's not hard. Simply remove the shifter, pull up on the woodgrain and it pops off (from the back first), unscrew the two screws holding the side panels in place, remove them, unscrew the 2 screws on each side of the radio, and pull from the bottom.

The semi hard part is getting it back in. it takes a bit of force.

not hard at all though. 10 min job each way.
