Something wrong about a $40,000+ car you have to spray 3M on to keep squeek free. This stuff is starting me to rethink I want a GS.
I agree, as much as I like the GS, I will not be a Lexus fanboy and make excuses for why a $50K+ car needs 10 pounds of felt tapes and a dash lube job every 5000 miles to keep it from squeaking and rattling.
i've been to longo before. they didn't fck up my car, so i guess that makes them better than some.
try longo, then try glendale if longo fails.
longo used to give loaners with free gas. no refill needed on return. dunno if that's still the case. but gas is cheap.
Cool...thanx. I'm going to try Longo...do you have a particular service rep that is cool or the tech team that worked on your? Also, how's your rattles now, if you have any? Thanx.
supposed to get my 06 gs300 awd back today, i'll check in later to report on the rattles. Guy called yesterday to say they had removed teh whole dash...
it'll never go back together the same..
Brakes good so far. This is what is stated on my invoice:
vehicle brakes does not have updated shims.
part number 04945-22152 shim kit, anti squ
Dash noise:
found that the rattle is coming from inside dash and cowl. referred to tsib l-sb 0040-08
perform tsb and flagged straight time for applying felt on dash ducts. in addition to tsib modified instrumnet panel clip and stay as per fts. then removed cowl and added extra padding since cowl was on back order.
also got 13 gallons of fuel for free as part of the fuel rail recall.
Last year I took the car in for something and mentioned the styrofoam on styrofoam creaking in the center console. Got the car back with this issue fixed. Now I'm getting the dash on windshield (thinking of the right word as clicks is not exactly right) rattle (not better). And I'm amazed at the fact that when I think it's on the passenger side, it moves to the driver side.
Very surprised for this car. Love it but this is crap.
Just curious, if you owned both, how would you rate your overall satisfaction with your G vs. your 535?
Thanks.
I don't own the 535xi, it's provided by the company I work for. It's a nice vehicle for sure.
I 've owned quite a few European cars, this is my first Lexus. I'm very happy with the GS, no complaints at all.
I wonder if GS's have less of this problem in SoCal or Florida where mid 30's is about it a few times a year where back East mid 30's down for months at a time.
