I've heard conflicting viewpoints regarding the ML surround sound function. Would appreciate the definitive answer. Is the Surround sound "On" basically a 5.1 simulator for FM or CD functions? If that is the case, then it should be kept "Off" during true surround sound formats such as DVD-Audio. And how about SACD formats? Now if this "On" function serves as a 5.1 decoder, then it should be kept in the "On" mode when 5.1 source material is actually used. I have tried both on and off for DVD-A and SACD discs and, quite honestly, each way seems to have its attributes. But not being an audiophile, I would appreciate knowing whether DSP "On" or "Off" is the option which is supposed to be used.
