Default Print this first before following instructions in post #3

Try to use the owners manual that comes with the car (do-it-yourself maintenance section)... you will find more info than you needed. (Caution: Select Recirculated mode before you popping out the filter!)

You should remove these instructions, because they do not tell you to put your Circulate exterior air switch on interior. If you don't do this, you will break the door of your cabin filter. From what I understand it is a $1400 repair. I broke mine just this morning following these directions

There are instructions in the Owner's Manual and they reference this switch in Step 1. --

Yes, I saw that, but when I printed out the JPEG image and took it to my car this morning, Post #2 doesn't show up!

The Picture of the Instructions are still incomplete. There should be 5 steps not 4

It sucks! It kinda makes me feel bad that my warning wasn't obvious enough. I will edit it.

Don't feel bad, the problem is the JPEG that does not mention it at all. It should be removed before someone else does this.

Same happened to me, not due to this thread, but with my previous lexus, i forced that door up and broke it...dealer wanted 1400 bucks to fix it...drove it somewhere else and traded it in for a newer model. Moral of the story, use those 1400 as a down payment on a new Lexus!

Default Here is a DIYs best instructions.

1. Buy a filter. Try Amazon - Fram filters are about 17 bucks.
2.Start the engine.
3. Turn on the air conditioning.
4. Press the AUTO BUTTON AND BE SURE THE RECIRC LIGHT IS ON (THE LIGHT ON THE LEFT)
5. Open the Glove Box and empty that junk you have in there...lol
6. Inside you will see a box on the upper right that has a grey looking rubber slot (That's the GPS antenna.) and a shelf that has a center support.
7. Wiggle that center support by gently picking it up and moving it out of the way of the base slot.
8. Grab the left and right sides of the shelf and pull it out.
9. Look into the box and see a black name plate. (The filter is behind it)
10. With both hands on the front push up and the black plate
11. Pull the plate straight up and remove it.
12. Now look and see what looks like a white plastic carrier with 3 clips.
13. There is really only 2 clips, one left and one right. Push them in to release them
14. Grab the center looking white **** and pull it out.
15. Squeeze the filter at the top and bottom and remove.
16 Open you new filter box.
17 LOOK for the arrow on the end of the filter for the direction of the air flow.
18 Squeeze the new filter as you did to remove the old one and replace it into the receptacle.
19 Be sure the arrow for air flow is pointing in the correct direction.
20. Insert the carrier with the new air filter snapping the clips in place. Be sure it doesn't wiggle.
21 Insert the black plate in with the bottom tabs going in first. and push it up and snap it in place.
22 Place the shelf back in place and re-position the center support into the tabs in the bottom of the Glove Box.
23 Open a fine bottle of wine and have a glass you just saved yourself enough to buy a couple of bottles and no waiting at the dealer.

Even this is NOT fool proof as there has been incidents where the dealer broke it, and denied claim. Just make sure you test it out and make sure it's working before driving off the lot.
