whoever told you that, don't listen to them....

awd can have staggered setup, people have done it here, just keep the front and rear overall diameter close and you are fine

meaning the offsets can be different as long as the tire sides are the same.

for example, 20x8.5 front with an offset of 35 and 20x8.5 rear and an offset of 45. the tire size would be around 245/30-20 or even 245/35-20 but I would go with a 245/30 just because I hate chunky tires. Plus sometimes you get rubbing if the offsets are a little off.

not true, you can have different widths front and rear as well. you can use 245/35 and 285/30 and the car will run just fine

You can do it, but I wouldn't recommend so unless you care more about looks rather than performance and practicality. To make a long story short, I've done enough research to feel confident that nothing should get damage running a staggered setup (if setup properly).

he didn't recommend due to performance and practicality issues, NOT alignment or traction or other vehicle safety related issues though

it will throw off your awd system. even if you get the tire size diameters the same (it will be close but never exactly the same on a staggered setup) over time it will mess up the awd system.

do you have more info? i know a lot of bmw and audi awd cars have staggered wheels and they never have problems on awd system messed up

say someone has 245/35 and 285/30, the difference front and rear on diameter is less than 1mm. are you telling me that will cause problems? that's kind of hard to believe isn't it, coz' two 245/35 can have deviation that big already

all your info is right in line

this is NOT going to mess up the AWD system!

I would personally run a 19x8.5 rim in the front and a 19x10 rim in the rear. I did this on my IS....If I pick up the GS I will be doing the same on that. You can PM one of our vendors MrMark also. He has a 2IS, but he has staggered rims and has since he got the car with no issues

good luck on your wheel search!
