Default Chugging noise on startup

I have a 2006 300GS AWD with 34000 miles on it. Since it was new (or almost that long), it has made a chugging noise on startup, when cold. The noise is not loud, but it can definitely be heard. It lasts for 2 to 4 minutes, then disappears. When I discussed this with Lexus service, they said (of course) "That's normal". But I've owned two Lexi before, and neither did this. Now that I'm in my last year of warranty, I'd like to get this fixed, but it's a big deal to beat on them, as the car needs to be started cold, and my dealer is 45 minutes away. Otherwise, the car runs great.

Any similar experiences, or advice on how to proceed?

Thanks.

probably normal, warmup with GR series engines is a bit loud (from the outside).. high pressure direct injection does not help either. But then again, you get top of the class power and mpg ratings.
