Do your own oil changes? Stealership? Local shop?
I just wanted to know what you guys do for your oil changes. I have been accustomed to doing my own oil changes for years, but now that I'm about to hit my 1st oil change on my GS; I'm contemplating going to the stealership.
What do you guys do?
Also, if you change your own oil or go to a shop (ie. jiffy lube), what oil do you use?

Even though Lexus gave me a free 1st oil change on my previous IS, I still pass on that and did it myself. I heard dealers use recycle oils.
Castrol or Valvoline Full synthetic is what i use. I cant believe you actually mention Jiffy lube . I wouldnt take my bicycle there for a chain lube.

Your first oil change is complimentary by Lexus. Why would you skip a free oil change?

Do my own after the first one (they screwed up scratching my rims) and complementary after dealing with them getting the rims replaced. The complementary they overfilled the oil.
DIY and save some headaches and time. I use Castrol and rotate my own tires. Faster than going to the dealer and no headaches.

I have it changed at the dealership. Why buy a 50K luxury car and slave over an oil change? I figure it'll take me an hour to change the oil not including the time it takes me to buy the filter and oil and then dispose the used oil. It's about $80 plus a free wash and loaner at the dealership. My time is worth so much more. If you can afford a luxury car, you can afford a dealer oil change.

I have a Pep Boys across the street from me and I have a oil change pump too. With the pump, it takes me no more than 30 min tops to change the oil AND filter. So it's kind of a toss up for me.

Why would you wait if they give you a free loaner?
My first 5k was free, my 10k and 15k was done at dealership. For both 10k and 15k service I only did oil change ($59). That always includes a free loaner for a day (IS), car wash of my GS, and a deli meal (always free food in their lounge). This is about $25 more than an average oil change at any respectable places in our area, and this extra money gives you so many bonuses and a piece of mind. Tire rotation is done outside for $18, and for 15k service I bought and will replace my own AC filter for $29. Although its just an oil change, they still check all the fluid levels and do their multi-point inspection. And at 15k service they also checked my brakes and even adjusted them complimentary.
