Full iPod integration w/ Vaistech Kit?
Hello everyone,
I have had my 2001 ES300 for over 6 years now and I have been looking at the GS350. This car obviously doesn't have iPod connectivity but I was told by the dealer that if I purchased the car with Levinson, they could add a Vaistech kit that would allow for full iPod integration. Essentially, this would allow for the iPod to be fully out of site with ALL control being capable through the touchscreen. If that is possible, I'm probably going to get the car. Can you guys verify this is in fact the case?
I noticed in some of the older threads something about a 99 playlist limit. I really don't use playlists, I normally just scroll through Artists, Albums and then songs. Is that possible with this kit?
Lastly, anyone know if the new iPod touch works with the Vaistech kit?
I know it sounds silly to consider not buying a car if your iPod won't be fully integrateable, but that's me.
Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to give me. I'm really glad I found this site/resource.
Thanks!
William

They're releasing a video iPod one soon (a month or so) and it'll even play videos.
And sorry to tell you but 99 playlists is still the limit.
iPod touch should be compatible. Contact VAIS Tech for confirmation.
Lastly, if you want to flip through/look at songs/playlists, you must do the hack, which would allow you to use dial-pad in motion as well.
If you get ML, you can also watch DVD while in-motion.
Thanks for the reply.
I'm still not quite clear about the ability to scroll through artists, albums, songs. I do NOT use playlists on my iPod, I just go through the artists, albums, songs and play what I want that way. Is this possible through the touchscreen with the "hack" you mentioned?
Bottom line is, I don't want to have to do anything with the iPod other than hook the thing up and then control everything from the touchscreen.
Thanks!
