You don't need new TPS. You could put the existing ones onto the new rims.

If they don't fit, then you could throw them in the spare so the warning light doesn't come on.

That or you could drive and ignore the warning light.

The only drawback I could see is that your Lexus won't be able to warn you when you have a leak.

Default Do some homework on this before you buy!

There some wheels that come ready to accept the TPS and any good wheel shop SHOULD BE familiar with these. Make sure to ask them BEFORE you give them your car if they have experience in doing this swap. The spare tire answer will work but not one that I would be comfortable with. I went with IForged wheels and have had no issues with the TPS in fact it saved me from driving on a leaky wheel.

dismount the spare, put the TPMS in there, mount the tire back up, and fill to pressure.

or you can do a search, I think someone made a pressurized container out of PVC tubes and put TPMS in there???

is the way around this for the wheel to have an extra valve on the inside of it? What wheels offer this? I was thinking about getting MRR or Axis wheels.

The TPMS does not monitor pressure per se, only the differential between one tire and the other three, if so, just put the sensors in your glove compartment, the system will be fooled into thinking all four tires are in equilibirium, pressure wise, at 0 psi. and the warning light should not show up....

I put 19 on in the spring. I got 4 new tire pressure sensors from Sewell Lexus in Texas, they had the best price at $88 per sensor. I then had them installed on 19 inch, five spoke, HRR Chrome wheels. MAKE SURE WHOEVER MOUNTS THE WHEELS USES THREAD SEALER OR THREAD LOCKER ON THE TPS SENORS.These factory sensor are the threaded value stem type. If you dont use thread locker your tires will air down when you drive. Now you have to pay your Lexus dealer to program the ECM to recognize the new TPS. They charged me $25. When I switch from my summer tires back to "winter" factory tires I press a button found underneath the dash on the passenger side. This switches from one set of TPS to the other and vice versa.
Having the red light on would drive me nuts, thats why I did it the right way.

This is exactly what I needed to know.
Thank you

Do you know why the new factory TPS sensors have to be programed? If I decided to remove the TPS from the old wheels and place them on the new ones, would I still have to program the ECM?

Hmmm... That would suck if one were to have 4 simultaneous slow leaks.

EyeKutr,
Thanks for your response. I'll just take the ones off the OEM wheels and place them on my soon to be 19 or 20's.

I have purchased 4 used OEM Tire pressure sensors for my 06 GS 300, Would need to have the sensors programmed for my car? I placed the sensors in the spare equally spaced apart and followed the reset procedure with no luck. Will the glove compartment option work if the sensors are programmed for my car? Any info would be great.. Thx Mobb...
