$144k for CLS?!? Unless you are getting AMG package w/500hp engine ($86k), the regular 4-door CLS 5.5L V8 w/382hp is approximately $63k which is cheaper than GS450h. But, do you guys really like those banana-shaped coupes? Great aerodynamics, but I betch you can hardly see much out of those small windows while driving. Just my personal opinion, car is fugly

Don't worry though, with weekly care, some cognitive restructuring and comapssionate listening, you'll be feeling better in no time (as long as you have good insurance!).

Have you guys read the lately issue of consumer report? Mercedes is one of worst brands. I am not a big fan of MB, and I don't get the styling of CLS. Not for me. Our GS, a 50k car, and we are asking and wondering "IS THERE A PROBLEM WITH THE 3GS". Just think people who spend 144k for a CLS AMG pakcage asking "IS THERE A PROBLEM WITH CLS AMG?"

PsychDoc: Thanks for the offering. I can still pretty much get the car I want, without any problem with wife.... yet!

Mercedes is one of the worst in reliability but for curb appeal, luxury, and prestige its darn near tops. I agree that 144k for a CLS AMG is absurd and a half. That makes the 100k-ish range for the M6 look like a steal. But those cars market to those ultra rich folks who know what they want whereas the 3GS seems to struggle in where exactly it fits into the vehicle market.

Brings me back to my days when I remember the M5 07 I had on order.
Maybe I should reconsider again....... all that power in a quick shift high rev.

But then when I think about that, I start thinking of the Ferrari and other competition.

Bah, to many choices, but that's a good thing right?

For now, I will stick with jsut my GS450h and NOthing else.....

the CLS is the "4 door coupe" I believe it is the same chassis as the CL which is the S chassis. THe CL is the one we are speaking of, I only like the CLS because it has the 4 doors, but I do not like the looks of it.

and from what I remember when shopping for the AMG, "55" brand, I though anything amg was a minimum of 125K.
That was last year and maybe things have changed since then.

The 4 door CLS is based on the 2 door CLK not the S class. The 2 door CL is based on the S class. The CLS63 starts at around $89k because it is the lower end MB compared to the CL. The CL63 is around $130k. Confused yet?

I agree the CL is quite pricey @ $130+ but a damn bargain compared to cars like the Bentley Continental GT. The inside of the car is probably one of the nicest interiors that I have seen and quality has really improved at MB. The prev gen S class is probably considered to be one of the least reliable MBs in history and that's sad considering it is the top of the line sedan from the company. The newer designs seem to be doing much better. My GL is the first model year for the car and I have had zero issues.

You also are mistaken...the CLS is based on the E-Class. I looked into the car when we bought the GS. The CLS is my wife's favorite car. I told her I would never buy another Benz until the reliability issues are fixed but she wants one anyway. The reading I did said E-Class and the sales staff said E-Class.
I also love the styling of the car but I can't understand buying a car that needs repair as often as Benzes. I don't have time for that. Plus, they aren't friendly enough to make frequent visits to the service dept. We made the right choice.....almost. We should have waited for the GS350 but se la vie, we're happy.

i love my GS. we all made a good choice no matter the model, it's a GS.
I still get compliments daily. Hybrid? huh? how fast? nice inside! PCS what? blah blah. I love telling/answering questions people have about the car.

You are correct sir! I thought the CLK was also based on the E Class, I guess it's based on the C class. Yes, there is no argument that the GS is a good car and I am very pleased with mine for it's intended usage.
