If you have a dark color car, a clear bra is a great investment. The front end of my GS looks like crap after 20k miles of So. Cal. driving.

For people in So. Cal., I highly recommend Areo Tect. They did a fantastic job on my '07 Escalade.

Everyone mentions the clear bra looks good on dark colors. What about the Mercury Metallic silver? I want to get it done, but the srvc. mgr. at my dealiership told me they yellow. I have a small black chip on the hood of my car already.

mel, you will not see the color of the film. I'd contact your local xpel or 3m dealers and ask to see if they have a silver car with film installed around so you can see it for yourself.

Other then the line across the hood which is noticable at certain angles, I can not detect the clearbra on Starfire Pearl.

Default Aerotect Clear Bra

Got my GS350 "Glacier Frost Mica" done at Aerotect.net. They are located in CA near Pomona. It's definitely worth it.... I paid $640 for front bumper, hood(half), fenders(half), side mirrors, top portion of rear bumper, headlights, parking lights and fog lights. I will post some pictures of this excellent job done by Aerotect after I give her a bubble bath.

$550 and $640 both are good price if the job is done professionally and all suppose-to-be-covered areas are covered.

Mine was done at Premier in Fremont for about $720… an excellent job.

Paid around $800 to get the bumper and lower portion of hood covered with 3M Clear Bra. Seems to be the going rate here in NYC.

I had my GS 350 Mercury Metallic done at Aerotect. They did a great job. I had the same parts done like LexiGS. I believe they give a 10% discount on Mondays and Tuesdays. Francisco does a great job!

2 pages and no pics, I also would like to see pics on the GS.

Does it show a noticable line on the hood with Obsidian color? I had a black SC400 before I sold and it was not clearbra'd and showed so many rock chips in front bumper, the clearbra could have prevented that.

But I'm concerned with the following:
~What happens if it starts to yellow 3-5 years down the road?
~Can you wax the clearbra?
~Do you get the same shine on clearbra like you would waxing your naked paint? or will you be able to tell from a distance, shiny waxed naked car and clearbra not so shiny cause it plastic coated.

Xanadu, check out this link. Several post down, I also put up a closeup to show the line.

To answer your question:

1- If I remember correctly, it comes with warranty on the film. You can always remove it and reinstall a new film. After 5 years?... Hmm.. maybe just a new car!

2- I just zaino over the clear bra.

3- You can get the same shine through out. Water beads up just like any other area.

Default Water-Spots on your ClearBra?

I have a black '06 Gs and with ClearBra and if you look at it clearly, there are waterspots on it. I contacted 3M and they said that it's natural with the acid crap that's found in water.

Do others with a dark color GS have this same problem?

Is there a huge differentiation with your ClearBra? People look at my car as if there is a two different color on the hood.

Suggestions / Comments are welcome!

No water spot. If the spot is on the surface, you can use rubbing alcohol to clean it out. Just don't get it on the paint. Then, you can put wax on top. I have mine for 9 months now.
