Auto Rain Wipers - Do they just suck?

No, they don't suck! They wipe, when they feel like it!

Thanks for the replies folks. Today in heavy rain in the SF Bay Area they worked reasonably well, it's the light rain / sparse rain where the real problem lies.

Overall I'd say they certainly aren't what I'd expect from a $50K vehicle. Especially since some of you claim the RX wipers work so well.

I'd still like to try mine side by side with another GS to see the difference.. hmmph

auto or no auto... it does not beat the finger tapping wiper technique

I find it's doesn't wipe fast enough when the rain pours hard. The sensitivity/detectiong is a bit off.

Default I love mine

I actually get mad when the dealer turns them off and I forget to put them back in auto.....they work exactly as advertised for me!

Call me confused. I'm trying to decide if I want to accept a car with Auto Rain Wiper option on it. If this option can be turned off, I don't care if the car has it. But, if the option can't be turned off, then I care.

The two people above seem to be saying different things about whether the driver can turn off the auto rain wiper. What's the real story? Thanks.

Yes, you can have them off. And yes, you can just have them run constantly. "AUTO" is just one of the options on the wiper switch. It replaces the "INTERVAL" option.
