Default vias-MD or CD what happens if set wrong?

I was reading the manual and thought the 99 track rule for cd sucks. Anybody tried the MD program? That one goes to 999. I wonder if you can use it in MD but then again, maybe the software in the Lexus would refuse to display anything above 99 and just crash or something?

Don't know. For our cars, they say that you should use CD-emulation. I guess you could try it... at your own risk! Actually, I think some one has already... but it didn't work too well.

Man, I couldn't deal with that many tracks. I personally like it broken down into about 20-30 track lists, but if you really want to shuffle through your entire list, I'd just use simple mode. Yeah, you don't get song names but that feature gets old quick.

well its not that 99 is "little", but I have my lists broken by type. example: 80's music. and I have like 200 songs in that list. And I hate breaking that up into two lists.

Default 2007 Nav non-ml vais in MD mode works!

I installed my vais SLI iPod adapter and programmed in MD mode. It works pretty well. One quirk was I originally had over 99 playlists on my ipod and the folders list on the nav/audio screen was empty. After paring the list down to under 99 the folders, they display fine now. The remaining quirk is that when switching folders, the song title from the previous song still displays on-screen. My 2007 GS 350 nav-non-ml has an MP3 logo (and WMA) printed at the bottom of the center console. I've seen 2006 pictures on this site without either logo. So, my conclusion is that you need a 2007 GS to set vais sli in MP3 mode.

The "99" is the limitation of the radio. Remember the Vais is emulating a CD changer, there was no reason for Pioneer/Lexus to have a 3 digits for track numbers with a CD changer. A standard audio CD can hold but so many songs. Definitely nothing over 99. I remember Vais saying you could have larger than 99 tracks in a folder, but the radio would only display the first 2 digits I believe. i.e. track number 101 would display as track 10 - If i remember correctly...
