I have seen a couple of references on this thread questioning the validity of some members actually buying the GS350 for $200.over invoice. I think most members have better things to do than post fabricated deals on a new GS. My deal was @ $200. over invoice 6 weeks ago, PM if you want details or proof!!

Lightbulb My 2007 GS350 Buying Price

I purchased my 2007 GS 350 (black or obsidian on black) on 12/19/2006. The MSRP is $48997 with 18" summer tires, navigation, rear spoiler, rain-sensing wipers, rear sunshade, ventilated seats, and preferred accessory pkg. The final price is $ 43958 plus TTL+fees. (50 mi on ODO) The invoice is $43458. I paid with cash option.

I live near San Jose, CA and the sales tax is a whopping 8.75 %... so I never compare the out of door price because it is a very subjective number. If you are interested in purchasing a 07 GS 350, try not to pay $1k over than the invoice or you will be high jacked. If I can negotiated my GS 350 at $500 over invoice in a very high living cost San Francisco Bay Area, you should get a better deal than me. Don't give a doubt, the demand here is very hign too since there are only 3 NAV equipped G35 RWD left on the lot... you just need to work hard on the price. IMHO, I don't ever believe that these greedy dealers deserve to easily earn our $$. Hope this helps.

Update from my various posts in this thread on purchasing a GS350.

Trying not to get wordy, as of today it looks like demand far outweighs supply for the GS350 in my configuration (MSRP: $49,483.00). Only two black/black cars w/ this configuration in a 100 mile radius of Los Angeles. As far as I can tell, there are thirteen GS350's in all that are not spoken for (mostly base models). That's not even one car per dealer in the region! Looks like Lexus is carefully controlling distribution.

The 'December to Remember' opportunity ain't gonna happen for me**. For the foreseeable future, I may have to place an order; of which I was told can be filled within 2 - 4 weeks (unless various dealers are stretching the truth, many GS's are due in port the first four weeks of 2007 that are not pre-ordered).

So for those with experience in such matters of ordering a car, excuse my ignorance (and this may seem like a foolish question), but what is the proper procedure? I've been told that I put down a refundable $500.00 deposit. Once the car comes in, the deposit is no longer refundable and gets applied to the purchase of the car. If anyone has purchased a car like this, did you negotiate the cost of the car PRIOR to putting down the deposit? And if so, did you 'sign on the dotted line' BEFORE the car arrived?

Thanks again for all of your input.

P.S. ** If I 'sign on the dotted line' for a purchase in December, I can qualify for the December to Remember perk. But as I've implied, I'm not comfortable committing to $50K out the door on a car I haven't seen or will not receive until weeks later. But if that is the process, I'll have to re-evaluate.

I negotiated my price before I put down the deposit. I also made it absolutely clear that I could get my deposit back even after the car arrives at the dealer if I did not like it for whatever reason. They (dealer) never liked this option, but did not have issues agreeing to it.

Good luck getting the car you want!

Are you saying that there is only a total of approx 13 GS350 in all of So Ca? Wow, if that is the case it will certainly increase the price in negotiations. When I bought mine Oct 31, Newport had a total of 15!!

To answer your question on an order, I tried this in September as no dealer had my color/option combo. Dealer said it would be in within 3 weeks. 6 weeks later and many excuses, I found one that had come in @ Newport and bought it.

Chicago supply seems very limited too. Since there was nothing I really like around, I ordered my GS350 exactly as I wanted it a month ago for 3K under MSRP (about 4K over invoice). That was the lowest I could get when talking to about 7 dealers in the area and looking at Costco discounts. I probably could have squeezed out a little bit more but I doubt anything close to 1K over invoice in my area. Also, I negotiated the price before putting down my deposit.

Regardless, my car came in last week and I couldn't be happier.

I got mine soon after it was available, about 14 days after. There wasn't any marketing to help boost demand. They had the exact car I wanted, I had been quoted 1k over invoice by a semi connection and I made my local dealer beat that and they did. You have to work for a good deal!

Definitely, negotiate before signing any papers or putting deposit down. BTW, supply here in Jersey is not so great either. A month ago, it was a different story. Also, very hard to find a model without NAV/ML.
