Now that we know that the new GS will have a 10-speaker Mark Levinson system, it seems to me that nothing is changed in that "new" system. Doesn't even seem to support DVD-A. Too bad. Have to say I'm kinda disappointed.

Even when the power rating come with the thd it is still not that accurate....
my old used onkyo integra reciever is 110W@8ohms and .03%thd.
I bought a new Yamaha for ~$500 at best buy, rated at 110W@8ohms and .08%thd.

No competition, my Onkyo is so much louder...the Yahama was distorting very soon.

The 06 GS300 I saw in DC had 14 speakers according to the "guy with the microphone".

Ahhh he's/you're right!! Not only so, according to http://www.lexus.ca/lexus/experience...96ST&year=2006 , the system also includes a "DVD Autochanger", which must mean it plays DVD-A!!

I should never have been so judgmental before the official specs are out.

Hopefully there are some other enhancements in terms of system performance too, such as a better subwoofer.

Good find!! I wonder what the icon on the left of the DTS icon is though.

Too bad SACD is such a proprietary technology or it would've been the best choice.

Default Confirmation

Just received an e-mail from Lexus Australia. The GS430 and GS300 SPORTS LUXURY will have the Mark Levinson 14 High Response-Speaker System with an in-dash 6cd changer. The GS300 SPORTS (the base model I believe) will only have a hi-fidelity 10-speaker audio system. Note that this is only for Australia.

Same thing shown on the Lexus' Canadian website. But there are only two other sedans with 14 or more speakers, the Infiniti M45(14) and the Cadillac STS(15), each have speakers in the two fronts seats on either sides of the headrest. Wouldn't the same MOST LIKELY be true of the GS? I mean there are only so many places that you can put speakers. Well with all the pictures of the interior has anyone seen pictures where there are speakers on either side of the head rest?

If I can make that logo out right, it should say DIGITAL under the logo meaning Dolby Digital sound. Possibly 5.1?

I'll be going back to the Autoshow tonight. Hopefully I can confirm Dolby Digital. It's imperative when DTS is available for a system, Dolby Digital is usually always together with it.
