Lexus GS 300 ECU swap
The car is a 2006 Lexus GS 300
Hi there! I'm planning to replace my ECU with a used one from another car. What is the proper procedure to program or "teach" the new ECU to work with my vehicle?
From what I've read on various forums, it seems that you need to jumper pins 4 and 13 on the OBD port. However, I've also come across reports of issues after doing this — specifically, cases where the engine cranks but won’t start.
I've also read that sometimes the VIN needs to be written into the replacement ECU, and in some cases, the ECU requires a compensation code.
I’m aware of the YouTube videos that show how to perform the procedure, but I’d really appreciate hearing from someone who has actually done it and can share their real-world experience.
