Staggered Tire Sizes?
Hello All!
I recently bought a 2008 GS450h. The car has 121k miles but was neglected by the previous owner. It is desperately in need of new tires. The wheels on it seem to be aftermarket (they are marked LiquidMetal) but seem to be the same 18x8 size as stock. The tires on it are 225/40/18 front and 245/40/18 rear. My usual tire shop says it came from the factory with staggered size tires and wants to go with that. They say they looked up the VIN and that is what it came back with. However I have not been able to find anywhere online that documents these cars coming with different size tires front and rear. Can anyone confirm that this is right? I would much prefer to have the same tires front and rear so that I can rotate them and get a little more life.
Thanks,
SailorHarry

Go to wheel-size.com and look it up. Altneratively the brochure will tell, google it. I can’t recall about the 450h specifically that year, but it very well may have because of the added torque and lack of awd.
Thanks for the responses. It turned out the guy at the tire shop was mistaken. Once I got him to look at the sticker in the door jam the issue was cleared up. The tires are indeed 245/40-18 all around.
Unfortunately, they were not able to replace the tires due to lug nut locks for which I do not have a key. They also said they were not able to replace the shocks because they are electronic and they don't work on those. I am a little confused by that, the parts are available for a reasonable price and I believe the only thing special about them is having to unplug a connector. It seems like I need a new tire shop.
