I have a 2008 GS 460. It seems common knowledge that there were a total of 1,616 units produced and shipped to the US. How is it possible that my VIN ends with 001638?

 

Your VIN last digits might be a global numbers not just the US. in some cases last 6 digits represent serial number which is different than production number, It will give an idea about units but not in our sense (consumers/dealers) but in Toyota plants sense (assembly line).
