Default Anyone know how to remove the center console?

I need to replace a bulb that lights up the P/R/N/D/4/3/2 area in the shift gate.

What is the level of difficulty? or should I just have a dealer do it? They quoted approx $50, which usually means it's a $3 bulb and 10 min. labor.

Thanks for any feedback.

Its actually very simple.

Park on level ground and put the shifter In 1-2 and e-brage on.

Popout the ashtray, just give it a good pull towards you,it will come out.

Remove the shift ****.

Pull up the wood trim piece, it's only held in with clips.

Disconnect the switches, VSC ECT Heaters etc.

Voila!! You're done

WOW...didn't assume it would be that simple. Thanks. SEE that's why I love car forums so much. You can really learn alot....and my gf thinks I'm a geek for joining these things. She has an RX300 and I'll learn a few tricks for her car too. She'll be impressed.

Thanks man.

BTW if I disconnect the VSC etc... and plug them right back in. everything should work fine...I'm assuming?

yes, everything will work fine...
just make sure when you're popping out the wood, you don't pull too hard and yank out the connectors for the VSC, tranny mode, and heated seats (if you have them). Take a flathead screwdriver, wrap it with electrical tape, and pry the wood trip up and out. pry the wood at the flat side closest to the center armrest.

putting everything back in is just pressing it until the clips seat.

Dude....you weren't kidding that was real easy. I felt like a veteran Lexus mechanic. I could totally change the bulb myself. Since the console was apart I methodically cleaned every peice free of dust and stains.

Thanks again fellas
