Went to the junkyard today and got all 4 actuators out of a 2000 gs300. Not sure gow to tell if they are oem but at only $2 each i hope they work. I added pics to see if anyone can tell if they are the originals.
Final update. The key remote works! Honestly all i did was unplug the passenger side actuator and BAM it worked. And my luck of all 4 of the acutators i got today at the junkyard. The only one that doesn't work is the passenger front (the one i need). Now i spares. 3 out for 4 door working for now 😆. And remote is functional!
I know this an old thread, but I'm in need of some help. I have the same problem were I bought some cheap actuators and the alarm goes off every time I open the door. Can reprogramming the ECU with a new master key fix the problem?
I actually don't have a master key when I got my 99 gs300, just the subkey. Which is another reason why i figured I could do the ECU thing. Killing two birds with one stone.
Dang, thanks for the quick response. Im going to try it out and see. I still need a master key either way. I will let everyone know if its a bust or not
I had the same problem - key buttons would'nt work and alarm goes off every time I open the drivers door. I did what ph0bolus said - unlocked/opened/locked the passenger front door with the key and voila the problem stopped......it's a miracle....
Not a useless post...after many hours on this problem I tried your solution -"What fixed it for me was to go over to my passenger side and physically unlock or lock the doors with the key. After that the remote worked."
...and voila it fixed the problem. I can't thank you enough.
Hey, I went through the exact same thing with my '99 Aristo. I changed the actuators in my front passenger side door, and my remote didn't seem to register after I finished. The light flashed red, but the car wouldn't lock/unlock/ or open the trunk. I went through the steps listed in that youtube video and it would never accept the key programming.
What fixed it for me was to go over to my passenger side and physically unlock or lock the doors with the key. After that the remote worked. However, I read that you did this already and set off the alarm, which didn't happen to me since I don't have an alarm on my car.
So in the end I guess this was useless to post, but it might help someone else who went through this problem.
This procedure worked for me as well, "go over to my passenger side and physically unlock or lock the doors with the key". In my case I had to do both lock and unlock position since I'm guessing that the locking or unlock position is not recognized somehow. After installing my replacement front passenger door lock actuator, I noticed some symptoms; my cars factory alarm went off right after plugged in so had to use the car key to unlock the driver side door to disarm it, the inside door unlock button would only work when key is in the ignition on position or engine starts, my viper remote start's arm and disarm won't trigger the door lock and unlock. I thought the factory alarm was in the arm mode and needed to make it disarm somehow. Note, my GS has the aristo swap and I don't have a working factory keyless entry remote.
