Im wondering if the wiring harness with multiple visual cracks in insulation and probably some shorts killed those circuits in the ECU. I wont be installing the new ECU until after I have a proper harness installed.

I also bought some brand new coil pack plugs with nice pigtails already installed from ebay for $33 to install to the replacement harness when it goes in.

Seem to remember there's a long thread on just the wiring around that part of the engine... having to open up the wiring, inspecting, re-insulating, etc. Wouldn't surprise me if a ground/crossed wire took out the pins in the ECM.

Found someone parting out a 2002, his harness is good. I haven't had any confirmation that they are compatible but I might be in luck. He said he would sell it to me and also sell a set of 4 strut assemblies (with Bilsteins) for only $200 so it's worth a shot. PLUS he is local to where I will be in a couple weeks.

Has my luck on this car turned around?

The wiring harness showed up today!

No idea what happened with that, but no more worrying.
