Default Help! Oil Fume + Leak + smell GS300 2004

The valvecover gaskets were quite old and leaking so I changed them because all of the engine was full with grease and oil.

I should have done that way way earlier but I said, ill do that tomorrow.... Biggest problem was that one day I got oil fumes in the car and It smelled terrible. Made me scarred to (Unhealthy).

After that I degreased and cleaned everything in the complete enginebay and installed the new gaskets I hoped everything would be ok but that was not the case. After a 10 min drive the smell came back. There is a strange place where I spot a fresh oil spot on the headers but the most strange thing is that the gasket and the valvecover is completely dry and clean.

I,m not 100% sure if this makes the smell but I think so.

Another thing is that one day I had to give the cold engine more throttle to go forward. When I made a pause stop (that same drive) I found out that the oil of my transmission was extremely low. I had to fill that up with +- 0.8 liter. Luckily I found a parts store who could sell me some ATF. At this moment the ATF smells a little bit burned and the color is quite pink but not like new. Its in there for 30.000 km.

Is this just a coincidence or has it something to do with it.

Just above the red arrow you can see the wet spot.

I hope you guys can help me out.

Are you sure it's motor oil, and not ATF or P/S fluid?

My car still has oil in the same spot after I replaced my valve covers but it doesn't have any anywhere else. I know the valve cover isn't leaking so I'm not sure where its coming from

No smells and I also cleaned my engine like you did. That spot of oil is just always there for me but since it doesn't smell and theres no affect on the oil level its good enough for me.

Result: It was just some of the old oil what has penetrated between the header gasket and after lots of spraying with brake cleaner it stayed away!
