Exclamation 98 GS300 weird noise

Hello everyone.

I just bought a 98 gs300 yesterday with 240k miles on it

after i warm up my car. I will hear the weird noise under the engine base between the cat and header.

Also i had my friend drove the car home for me yesterday. And he said once it hits 60mpg to 80mph. He feels the car bottom was shaking with some noise. He told me i need to get alignment. But he said the noise can be transmission.

Any feedback will help

thanks

The videos help, but they are always hard to know exactly what it is. Sounds like a knock, or loose torque converter. Is the oil full? Guessing they sold it to you because of this. Best take it to a mechanic if you are stuck with it. Don't keep driving it if you don't know what it is. Might ruin the block if it's internal and gets worse.

that is weird. My friend said he only feel it and hear that noise when go passed 60mph and after 80mph it quiet down. Is it expensive to fix the knock if that is the issue?

But you can hear a knocking noise in your video at idle.. So not just 60 to 80 right?

Could you get a video of some light revving inside the engine bay perhaps? Does the noise coincide with the RPM or does it stay the same? That way you can possibly rule out whether the motor itself is bad. Maybe something is loose like TrueGS300 suggested and it's just untightened metal on metal vibration.

for what I know I dont think the RPM change while there was that noise.I turn on my car to warm it up this 2 days, I dont really hear that noise now. Can that be because the seller havent drive the car for a long time? I might try to run it around my block to find out.
