Default Ashtray Question

Fella's I got a question? I just purchased a woodgrain ashtray assembly for my 2000 crystal wht GS300, its very pretty but the wood on the ashtray looks a bit reddish like cherry wood, and mines is more burlwood brown. I contacted the dealer and they said that they will call me back 2 morrow 2 see if there are in fact other colors for wood ashtrays...Did anyone of u order a wood ashtray assembly from the dealer with the burlwood color or is there just one color? If this is the only color then i'm going 2 get a refund....

Should be the same wood. The difference in color is probably b/c the ashtray is brand new and the wood in your car has faded over the years.

Default 2000 Wood color

It will absolutely be different if your 2000 is a Platinum Series car. The Platinum cars came with a much lighter (more brown than red) Birds Eye Maple.

Every GS uses a different tree from my understanding, no 2 cars have the same color wood.
As Johnny Mo stated, Platinum edition cars DO have a different wood.

That is why when you order aftermarket or addittional wood, you have to be careful of a color match.

Johnny: I forgot about the platinum edition. Either way, it should be REAL obvious if the ash tray isn't birds eye maple...totally different color.

Sick: Yeah, there are subtle differences in the wood. But when I got my OEM wood ashtray last year, it's was noticeably "brighter" than the wood in my car. It was obvious that the wood in my GS had dulled over the years.

Same thing here. I just got a wood ashtray and it is darker than the wooden slats alongside the transmission tunnel, however the wood on the gear shift know is almost identical to the ashtray. My car is a 99 GS400 by the way.
