I don't think the audio hack works for factory navi on the 01+ GS with ML system..tried it a few times and it didn't work, unless I'm doing it wrong..(Turn car to the "ON" position, hold climate and audio, then click the parking lights on and off for about 3 times)

My favorite that I haven't seen mentioned is being able to adjust the subwoofer volume and the equilizer setting by hacking into the headunit.
Hold down 1 and 6 push CD 3 times and then hold down the AM button for 4 seconds and adjust and enjoy, you always have to go back to Audio and then shut off the car for the adjustments to work. Toggle between the FM and Tape adjustments from my knowledge P1 ups the sub I usually have mine on 3, 4 or sometimes 5 if I'm feeling really bassy. The F and R I usually have at 5 but sometimes up to 7, this works inversely the higher the number the more it suppresses the front and rear compared to the sub, it's more complicated than that some techie will get on here and yell at me but that's how I can understand it. Helps stock sub tremendously IMHO. I think to get to the NAV diagnostics turn the key to ON then hold the climate and audio buttons down while turning the park lights on and off about 3 times.

After 5 years of owning my car, I didn't know these features. A big thank you for this post. My sounds system sounds alot better now. I just noticed too that my LCD display is starting to go bad though, does anyone know if this can be repaired or replaced. Thanks all!

you can sometimes find ones on eBay.
there are also members selling their HU when upgrading on CL, I did that.
Which i would suggest is the way to go. replace all. HU+ 6 1/2 F +R +12" SUB
This car can actually handle an aftermarket HU really well and there is even a color matching double din kit from Carson Toyota I believe. My wife has a 2009 ES350 and it's a nice car but her 10 speaker system sound pretty mediocre even for OEM standards. for her car there isn't even an option of an aftermarket HU unless you want to put it in the glove or something. With the GS it's just a $50 Kit and you can drop any double din HU out there.

I found one on craigslist. Does anyone know if the LCD on the 99 GS3 Nakamichi OEM radio can fit on the 2000 GS3 Pioneer OEM radio? Which one is better? Can I just do a complete swap? Thanks in adv.
