send help with codes on 2003 gs300!
Ive got a 2003 GS300 Sport design with 180K and a few codes Ive been meaning to get resolved..
P0505 - Idle Air Control
P0171 & P0174 - Air/Fuel Mixture system too lean banks 1 & 2
On the Idle air control(P0505) I've already clean the MAF and throttle bottle thoroughly but the code came back after a few miles.. not sure what to look for next and grateful for any experiences/help!
The system running too lean makes me think maybe I need new O2 sensors? I swear I've smelled gas in the cabin on occasion so I'll be checking for leaks under the hood with some soapy water.. anyone had and resolved these?
Trying to give this thing some new life so next week ill be..
Putting new iridium plugs @ ngk wires,
New valve cover gaskets & new PCV valve
New fluid/filter/gasket on tranny & new oil pan gasket,
New lock actuator motors & AC servos.
They're both reading lean meaning that, well, the car actually IS running lean. This could be caused by that iac malfunctioning. It's probably letting in more air than the ecu is reading. I believe this is actually the motor on the throttle body assembly itself. Instead of cleaning the maf, try cleaning the butterfly in the TB and see if it helps. There could be some carbon build-up causing it to not close completely or accurately while in idle.
This has been confusing me because..
The motor attatched to the throttle body is the part number 89672-30020
and is called the "throttle control motor" on Lexuspartsow but the same part is called the "idle air control valve" on Rockauto. Am I able to just swap the motor out? Could of sworn I saw someone said it needs to be calibrated.
Thanks for the help.
Usually you get a 1120 or 1122 code though (I think that was the code) or was it 2101? DAMN MY DYSLEXIA!
fingers crossed this will be the last headache for a few thousand miles lol.
(if you don't mind used that is)
