Default Car won’t accelerate quick from dead stop

I have a 2001 Lexus gs300 and when i come to a complete stop and step on the gas the car acts sluggish and doesn’t accelerate normal until i reach around 25 mph. I replaced the spark plugs, ignition wires & ignition coils and i still have the same problem 😒 i took it to a couple shops and they don’t know what’s wrong with the car and told me to take it to a Lexus dealership but i refuse to since i don’t have the cash to pay for it. I cleaned the throttle body with spray for it but i didn’t clean inside the MAF yet. It idles great in park but as soon as i put it in drive the rpms drop to around 750 and shakes slightly... what should i do?

You're probably shocking the poor car with a ton of air when you just told it to stop then stomping on your accelerator. Anywho... could definitely be the MAF, could be a TPS issue could be a lack of fuel i.e. fuel filter, injectors etc. You should keep doing it and see if you can mess something up or strike a code or something. Or, you can just not floor it from a quick stop. Just a suggestion.

You can always have the dealer do a diagnostic and buy the parts yourself. It will probably cost around $125. Or better yet find an Indy that knows the 2GS. Most of us on CL have someone who knows the vehicle but is much, much cheaper than the dealer.

Before I found my Indy I had an issue with my car stalling that I thought was going to cost an arm and a leg at the dealer. They diagnosed it inside of an hour as a cracked vacuum hose - didn’t even charge me to replace it. So the dealer is not always the worst place to take your car. Expensive sometimes yes but I would rather know that not.

Check if the air intake where the baffle is, if it is cracked on the bottom.

Check to see if your “snow” option is on. It’ll make your car sluggish. My snow button light doesn’t light up but when I hit it it still work.

MAF SENSOR, and inspect your air filter. Might as well get a new one if it has more then 10k miles on it. Purolator One is a good alternative to the OEM.
