Hi everyone!

Hope Aristo questions are ok on here haha.

I recently bought a stock 2000 Toyota Aristo and it seems to be hesitating under load/full pedal. If I roll on the throttle slowly it works perfectly just does it when I stomp on it. It’s also not doing it all the time just at random and there are no engine lights on. I have put new plugs, coils and wires in and didn’t make a difference. I also cleaned the MAF. Not sure where do go from here... new MAF? Or maybe the in tank filter is plugged? Help!

Thanks
Rob

Have you looked at the filter? I have an aftermarket Dryflow panel filter. When this thing gets dirty it really bogs the car down. A few weeks back it was making the car run rich on hard acceleration. At first I thought it was bad gas from the station. Nope tried another one still same symptoms. So I finally pulled it out it was dusty as can be. Cleaned it up, and cleaned the MAF whith isopropyl alcohol. Running way better now.

You can try to change the fuel filter too if the car has some milage. There is a thread where a member changed his. He actually cut it open it was in very bad shape.

On start up does your car exhaust smell like fuel?

believe me i had your problem for the last 3 months and i was totally dying of this problem the car runs perfectly but once you hit the gas fully it doesn't go and you hear popping sounds and some strange things it was fuel pump and the pipe for the fuel pump was not connected and the fuel pump was broken believe me change your fuel pump and enjoy this car!

When I've had this in the past it's been either the plugs/wires/coil packs or the VVTI solenoid starting to go out.

When the solenoid goes out completely you'll know it - car will barely run at all.

Default I have an aristo powered gs

Had this prob a few times. Like mentioned check for vacuum leak and more importantly your pipes and connectors to the intercooler piping and intake..my front mount intercooler piping blows itself loose a lot. Drives me crazy. Causes same issue. If its blown all the way off the car will go into limp mode or just shut off. If u have a boost gauge. Then check it when ur at wot. And see if it slowly drops psi when ur at full throttle. That would ind. Air leak somewhere. Also i had a maf issue too. First time i cleaned it and it fixed nothing. So i wound up taking it off car and apart and found very small piece of debris stuck against screen inside the little whole in the very center of the maf. I used tb cleaner spray and forced the debris out. Also make sure to wait for it to dry. Cuz i didnt give it enough time and keep trying to troubleshoot an issue that i didnt have . The maf sensor was just still wet from me cleaning it lol
