Question Questions on foglights

I have clear lenses on my foglamps, presumably factory, and they shine yellow. As of late, I've noticed one of them has turned more of an amber color than yellow.

1) Are all of the oe fog lamps on the US 2GS the same? I ask because i have seen people referring to yellow v/s clear factory ones.
2) if there is a difference, is it strictly in the bulbs, or is there something in the housing?

I thought about hids or leds, one, but didn't want to go that route if the discoloration was in the housing.

They're all the same, per-se, but one has a yellow capsule inside in which the bulb illuminates inside to create the lovely yellow. If you're seeing amber, I wanna say you may have HID's in there and one is going bad. Also, its possible you do have the yellow capsules and the previous owner threw HID's in the capsule with still the same going bad issue. Its just a matter of getting down you your knees and checking.

Do you have factory HID's? IIRC, Halogen GS's don't come with the yellow capsule option.

With the car off, you should be able to see the yellow capsule through the clear lense, if you don't, then most likely its a bad HID (yea I keep saying the same thing ) Heres what you should see with them off (if they're true with the capsule)

Yep. That's what my fog lights look like when off. I do have factory HIDs for the low beams. Just to be clear, if I do have HIDs for the fogs too, that's not factory, correct?

On all 2nd Generation GS that came with HID headlights from the factory you got Yellow capsule fog lights. If you got Non-HID headlights from the factory you got clear (no capsule) fog lights....

So , I took the fog lamp off that looked discolored, and they are not aftermarket HID's. I took the bulb out and cleaned out the yellow capsule with some rubbing alcohol, to no avail. Looks like it's time to replace and maybe upgrade the bulbs. I can't imagine that one capsule would discolor & the other would stay the same.

My thoughts, too. I'll get a pic up this evening after work. I'll be adjusting the headlights a bit anyway.
