There's also a guy in Houston selling his 05 with super low miles for $10k. I'm trying to find it.

Lexus champion i also wanted the latest 2nd gen which you have, the 2005 GS430. But all I could find at the time was a 03. Quote:Originally Posted by sakataj

I talked to a master mechanic at a Lexus dealership & he stated that from 1998-2002 the GS had ball joint problems. He said Lexus fixed the ball joint problem on the 2003-2005 GS's. So stop acting like your a engineer for Lexus and have been briefed on the entire history of the GS model.

I've had mine since I was 16 in Feb of 2008. I think of selling it, but I can't bring myself to do it. I'm planning some changes for it, as it's had most of the same mods since 2005 ...03 GS3, 59k miles. I think over the last 4 years I have less than 5k miles on it. I just love the car too much to part with it, despite the mileage I've put on it.

Great question
Wow, great question! and a tough one too. My 2000 GS400 has 275,000KM. It runs like new of course, burns no oil, strong as day-one. The interior looks nearly new, far better than luxury cars half its age - in fact it looks better than some new cars (Buicks) I've seen sitting in new car showrooms. But, the roof is rusting badly at the top of the windshield. Except for that, I'd be willing to get the front bumper repainted, new headlights and mile it out. Now, I am thinking sell it next spring and get a GS/LS430. I don't think I can replace with anything but a GS/LS, that effing car has spoiled the crap out of me! Currently looking for a used RAV4 for my wife, and the fact that the GS has spoiled me is making that process difficult.

When I got my 03 GS430 wit a 109,645 miles on it. I had it inspection by top rated auto shop who said nothing needs to be replaced or showing wearing. They said this car is in good shape for the year and miles. So I bought it. Didn't know what the previous owner did. I called a Lexus dealership with the VIN # but dey said no history on this car. Which I thought was weird, not even the first 20,000 miles. So I bought dealership parts & replaced the timing belt, drive belt, NGK iridium IX spark plugs, water pump & gasket, thermostat & gasket, idler 1&2, hydraulic tensioner, camshaft & crankshaft seals, Mobil 1 full synthetic high mileage oil, Lexus oil filter. Factory fluids used on these: power steering flush, brake flush, transmission fluid exchange, fuel system cleaner. Also put on tein lowering springs, alignment, brand new brake pads & tires from the car lot I bought it from. I had to replace the door lock actuators & the CD changer. But for some reason it won't take the CD changer. Bought a navigation CD update & xenon headlight bulbs. Replaced factory fogs wit yellow fogs. But only thing I don't like is mark Levinson system doesn't have any bass.

I hated the idea but definitely need more room for my family / dogs. Posted up my 2002 GS300 Sport Design for sale today. Has about 152k. Still runs better than some of the newer cars I’ve driven IMO. One of the best sedans other than the LS430. With all the Major maintenance completed these things can run forever. Will eventually get back into another Lexus 2GS.
