Question with the antenna when installing new stereo
I have a '01 GS300 non-Nav that I'm in the process of switching out with a double DIN head unit and speakers. When I unplugged the antenna wire out of the stock stereo there was another smaller looking antenna wire that I unplugged as well. Anyone know what that second smaller antenna type wire is for? I don't have a spot for it on the new head unit.
Unfortunately I didn't get it to power up tonight and will have to go back tomorrow night and double check all the wiring on the wiring harness. Hopefully it's something small that I missed.

I didn't take a picture of mine but I found one online. I circled where there are two antenna looking wires. One is obviously an antenna base on the size. The other one looks like an antenna but it's thinner.

Haven't every looked ay my GS but my old Toyota Cressida stock radio also had two antenna cables. When switched to an aftermarket stereo I only plugged in the larger one as it was the one that fit in the new radio. Everything worked fine. I believe the OEM radios have two antenna in order to improve radio reception.
