I just got a gold 1999 gs300 you need to use premium, i also have a 2001 gs430 that also needs premium

You can use regular rarely because if you use it often it could mess up the knock sensors. To repair those they're under the manifold and about 1500 for the dealer to fix.

Guys, when the air-fuel ratio program was written into the computer, the premium fuel grade was the one that ensured the maximum performance. And this grade contains less lead that causes engine to knock. It's advisable to always use the recommended fuel grade to avoid off-setting the digital information the computer is receiving from the fuel side.
