Default 2002 GS300 Chirping Noise

Hello All,

I'm getting a very annoying chirping noise when I depress the brakes while driving. Even if not driving, I can press on the accelerator, then the brakes and get the chirping noise. It will do anywhere from 2 to 7 short chirps and they are not faint, quiet chirps either. There is no problem with the functioning of the brakes when this happens. Is there any way to fix this without replacing the entire ABS unit? I don't think I should have to spend $2500 to get rid of a sound. This has got to be some kind of Lexus error in design as I've never experience this in any other vehicle.

Help!!

Sonny

Search "chirping", you'll find plenty of threads and videos.

Its your master cylinder. Mines been doing it for 6 years now Up to you if you want to replace it.

Heres a bad case:

Yours should have the same squeal but shorter probably starting with the normal buzz of the cylinder, like Zzzzzzzzzta ta ta ta ta ta tat

I agree It's your master cylinder/booster. The sound you hear is the booster not being able to prime you can lose pressure in the break lines at any time! Please review my latest thread I swapped mine out from a scap yard gs. I've recently had a very close call when mine failed! Get this addressed asap! I wouldn't even drive it.

I appreciate the feedback people!

Mr. Jokster,

Yes, the sound I get isn't that continual long squeal, it's more how you described the normal buzz of the cylinder...Zzzzzzzzzta ta ta ta ta ta tat. Exactly. It can be heard very well inside the car on the drivers side. Thank you for the input. I may replace it just because it's so annoying.

Regards,

Sonny
