gs300 odometer rollback?
I missed 3 different white ones (original color I wanted) that popped up the week after I found my gold one.
All 3 (2 Craigslist...1 from this site) look liked great contenders. So I know if you have to return this one, you'll be better off quickly
Nice car, how much did you pay for it? As 100,xxx miles is still nothing on a GS, you can get another 200,000 out of it with basic maintenance and repairs.
Have you simply called the seller yet? No matter if your going sell, return, keep, report, etc you need to call and ask the simple question to him now, just to see what he says.
You've been well informed from your inquiry here that selling a changed odo vehicle without documention is illegal.
Now all your doing is just wasting time by not doing one of these three things right NOW.
-Call the seller and have a conversation
-Report him to DMV/PD
-Or just get over it and drive the car and move on with life

I don't know how Lexus computers interact with each other;
but I was a Chrysler tech for many years, the CANBUS on the Chrysler has multiple modules, the CCN (cabin control node) aka dash cluster, and the PCM (power control module or ECU) both carry the vehicle mileage, if they do not match within a given error percentage (.2% on Chrysler) then the ODBII will report the error and prevent any type of flash or modification with anything other than the dealer tech tool.
I don't doubt Toyota/Lexus has similar security measures in place.
again, I would say you take it up with the DMV and the Police if it is an issue for you.
the law is the law and the seller is responsible, doesn't matter if he blames the previous owner, he sold the car and it had a true mileage unknown or mismatch issue and he didn't disclose it.
no different than someone receiving stolen goods, doesn't matter that you didn't know they were stolen, you received them, therefore you are breaking the law. Ignorance of the law is not a defense for breaking the law.
Ultimately the O.P is going to do what he wants but regardless of how good the car looks, he's received some good advice in this thread.
We really need a thanks button on this site!

agreed it is what it is, the OP has to decide if it is worth the trouble or not.
for me, if I was the op, first car, probably not going to keep it long, I probably would not care.
being the honest guy I try to be I would report it to the DMV and file a TMU form with the vehicle to protect myself if I ever sold or traded it, beyond that I wouldn't care much.
I have a 1995 4runner with 246,000 miles on it that had the issue, the seller changed the cluster to one with under 120,000 miles on it, he was however honest enough to tell me, and give me the original cluster that wasn't working, I filed the TMU forms with the DMV and have them with the title should I ever sell the truck, I paid $2000 for the 4runner and I bought it for off-road use; so I really don't care, I rebuilt it from the ground up (motor, transmission, suspension, etc) and made it a weekend warrior vehicle, the mileage on it makes no difference to me.

Thanks for all your advice! I decided to keep the cAr. Toyota engines last very long anyways plus i went to several mechanics, they all said the car looks good and is clean and the engine still has a lot of life. I mean i did pay $5,800. The car may be rolled back 25k but unless the previous owner drover 20k miles in a year, im lookin at about 120k real miles that this car been through which still isnt bad. Thank you all!

Sucks bro should of carfaxed it before you have bought the car. I cannot stress this enough. When i was looking for my gs i ran into a lot of nice gs's but they were either salvage or mileage rolled back. But hey if you're ok with that then that is totally fine. These engines have a ton of life anyways. Sometimes i just miss my gs300 lol!

it's a couple hours of your time for peace of mind.
Check the title does it say box a or box c milage? If its c i believe its unknown or odo discrepancy. I think thats the word. He could have just told them the wrong milage when he bought it causing it to be a box c. My 2cents
