Default Radiator change

So I replaced radiator and you guys were right, it was really easy to replace. How much radiator fluid should it take? I put some in there, and some also went into the reserve, but still seems empty. Also I did make sure I put sensors back in and connected everything, but after running the car for 5 to 10 mins, I still did not hear the fan go on. The car was idle for about a month and changed the engine oil and transmission but when I checked, it seemed like nothing was in there. Does it take time for it to run through the system or something??

You need to make sure the engine is cold. Start it up with the radiator cap off and fill it while the engine is running. If it's not running when you fill it there will be air trapped in the system. Your fans won't turn on and it can overheat

what happens to the fluid I already put in there?
Also when I was draining the fluid before replacing the radiator, notice some oil was in there as well. Not much but enough for me to notice. Im sure thats not good, but is it really bad?

I do the same method that @lexo98 describe. I usually turn the Heat on too. Its very important that you let your car get to operating temp (when the temp needle stops moving).

The fluid you put in will just mix with the old. No biggie. I wouldn't worry too much about a lil bit of oil streaks in the old fluid yet. Since your radiator was bad it might have let some trans fluid mix in.

what about the oil and transmission fluid basically not showing when I check the sticks. As mentioned the car wasn't running for about a month, only few minutes here and there. I changed the transmission fluid and the filter and put in about 3qts. Should that be enough or should I put in one more qt?. Thank you for your replies, helps a great deal.
