Default GS300 false heart attacks

Finally picked up my gs300 2002.

Yesterday I was hearing all types of noises and noticing all types of unknown like puddle of water, metal clipping during shift from reverse to drive, rough ride, steering wheel shaking, etc. So I couldn't wait and went to have my guy check it out. Before that, I got on the forums via search and come to find out, everything was normal. Steerimg wheel shaking? Ah, it's normal. Puddle, it's condensation, shift clipping, oh it's brake drunk. I'm like what the freak. All this talk about reliability...

Anyway, upon check- mechanic says all is well. Only thing was too much air in tires, which he released, and a small leak in valve cover, which I will have done this weekend. Brakes are new, transmission was tuned up by previous owner, suspension and joints on point. The ride is smooth now and I am out of panic mode. I have been so got in the past...

Anyway....2002 @170. Picked up for 7k. To me it's all worth every penny.

I think you need to chill.. There will be a water puddle when you use the AC, and that clunk you hear when changing gears will always be there forever, and u will never have to fix it cause the car IS reliable

Nice car btw i have always loved that color. Nice find

Only thing I'd worry about is the badging placement on the trunk, which screams 'accident' to me. Other than that, nice car.

X3 on the badges.

Run your finger along the seam and pay attention to fluctuations in gap width. You can also crack open the interior covers in the trunk (carefully) and look for signs of bondo.

Congrats on the car and don't hesitate to contact us if we can help with insurance for it!

Cheers,

Michael

Thanks, for the posts. I see we have some serious experts here. I will do the check now.

Many thanks.

Btw, one of the guys at my work shop said I could the gasket myself and save money but after seeing a diy on YouTube, I think I will pass. It's too much deep work for now. Perhaps after I have driven and enjoyed it a few months. I just don't want to risk any mistakes like the guy on you tube did when he first did his...
