Default Stock Headlight Replacement (HIDs)

Hello everyone! I've been looking for headlights to replace the stock ones I have on my '00 GS400. The car came with stock HID Headlights. Everywhere I look, product descriptions tend to say something along the lines of "FITS THE MODELS WITH OUT HID'S ONLY. Can anyone explain to me why this is and how I go about getting new headlights? I'm not looking to replace with new OEM ones, I want to get the halo projector ones.

Sorry if this topic has been covered, I've been searching for the topic and I can't seem to find it if it exists.

The aftermarket probably feels that HID models are not in a hurry to upgrade. Also factory HID has the auto leveling which the non-HID does not.

Many people run the "non-HID" headlights with HID bulbs. Like many mods this may not be fully legal and some people may feel it is dangerous. In my opinion if the light pattern produced does not blind other drivers you should be ok.

Be warned though that running "eBay" headlights is not a very popular choice around here.

These headlights are not compatible with the Factory HID leveling system or bulbs. You would need to adapt you wiring to run an aftermarket ballast and 9006 HID bulb. Factory HID is a D2R bulb. And of course you will lose the auto-level feature. This is why they list them for non-HID vehicles.

They will work. They just are not plug & play on factory HID vehicles.

If you want lights with halos, why not just invest in a retrofit and have them fitted alongside? They'd look and perform MUCH better than the lights you've posted, and you'd be able to keep the factory auto leveling as well. However, the cost would end up being more...
