Default 1998 Lexus GS300 Timing belt - interference or non-interference?

I'm sure it's been asked plenty of times but I did a brief search and I couldn't find any kind a definitive answer.

I just bought a 98 GS300 with 128k miles on it and I'm not sure the timing belt had been done, I looked on the Gates website and it says non-interference but I wanted to double check..

The 1989-1997 3.0 6 cylinder engines were free-wheeling (NON-interference) 1998-2006 3.0 6 cylinder engines ARE interference so long as it has VVT-i. 4.0, 4.3 and 4.7 V8's are all interference.

I'd check service history and hope it's been done. If you can't prove it's been done, replace it. Better safe than sorry
