Well, according to that paper, about 2 years ago give take that belt was replaced at 182k miles, why someone would lie about that is beyond me, UNLESS that 8 was a mistake and they put in a 3 in darker ink, it's hard to tell, ask the owner how many miles has he driven the car from November 2012 until he sold the car to u, if his answer is a lot more than 2k miles then u got him either way in a lie, or see if the timing belt was done at a lexus shop, which I doubt, that would be on file in the cars history report from Lexus and u could see and verify the exact mileage it was performed, why didn't u pop the hood and inspect the car before buying and then saw this is the bigger question?

This is the first time i bought a used car. Me and my friend just focus on oil leaked , we did not pay attention on that sticker. I drove a couple miles and we did not find any problems. When i went home i opened the hood again and saw that sticker. Also he is a dealer of used car in Alabama, he brought the car to Georgia. Well we went to his house ,then he started the car and said drive the car wherever u want then he went inside his house, Me and my friend drove about 10 miles, we did not see any problems. He listed the car on craigslist here :http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/cto/4419353510.html . I thought he would not cheat on me. I am so freaking dumb! Is it illegal when u rollback odometer ? Or anything i can return the car ?

Yes it is illegal, best to not worry and just return the car maybe, or keep it like Taylor said and negotiate some money back, maybe your buddy didn't know either I don't know...

If it were me and I really liked the car, I'd pull the valve covers to see what the heads look like. Check the state of the front end as well. If it looked like it had been taken care of, I'd use the information to negotiate a better deal. While the difference is 50k miles, there is still a lot of life left in a 180k 2jz motor. Of course, there is the wear and tear on the front end that probably needs some attention. But, it would probably need the attention even if it had only 134k miles.

I'll share my experience with the exact same thing.bought a Gs with "75,00 miles on the odo" drove good, everything checked out, like you I was worried about the big stuff and didn't pay attention to the sticker.i get home and look at the sticker.says the timing belt was changed 8 months prior to me buying the car with a milage of. 82,000.so naturally I freaked out and made a big deal to the used car dealer.well ended up getting a lot of my money back and keeping the car cause it drove nice.it still bothered me so I dug a little deeper.contacted the last actual owner before the dealership got it.she informed me that her son ran the car with low coolant and blew the factory motor.so she replaced it with a used motor with warranty that unfortunately had higher miles than her car.

If I were you I'd check to see if that is the factory motor.then go from there

It's possible that he was unaware of the odometer discrepancy but he should have known. Good to hear you got your money back though!

Good car instincts; glad you could get your money back. Not everyone is that fortunate.
