Default Here We Go Again!

Ok...so last night i stop by my doctor to get some blood work results back. Since the doctor doesn't have a parking lot, i have to park about 1 block away. About 1 to 2 hours later, I return and immediately note something wrong. When i hit the unlock button on my key the parking lights do not blink...i'm thinking ...oh crap!

Before i even open the door, i see that my center console CD's are spread over the driver's seat! i'm like CRAP! i get in to find the content of the center console, ashtray, cupholders spread all over the car. I see that the driver's door had the keylock hit with a screwdriver. I look inside the car for damage and can't really see anything missing or damaged. I quickly realized the thief was looking for a spare key inside the vehicle. The sun visors were flipped down as well. I had nothing in the car (remember i brought car back to stock about 5 months ago) of value so there is not much they could take to resell. I had the glove box closed by key for some reason and they did not attempt to force it open. I had nothing in the trunk and there was no indication that they had even had looked there.

So i thought to myself...oh well....just the driver's lock ...it'll cost me a few hundred bucks to fix...well within my means...and i still have the car to get back home (its cold as hell outside)...so i'm not too pissed.....

So i get home and park the car into the driveway. I tell myself before i go in the house...well let me just make sure i'm not missing something so i survey the outside of the car again.....i see my RMM grill still there...window spoiler there....ok....i pop the hood and find nothing odd or missing either.....so i'm feeling real good that this is really minor damage. I take a final walk around and then i notice another problem. ....the bastard hit the passenger's door key lock as well..... .....DAMN...both keylocks now......Have no idea why they would have done that...i suspect that they broke the passenger's lock first and since they could not open the door proceeded to the driver's door.

So total damage from this incident is both keylocks. I dropped off the car this morning to the dealer and they quoted me $605 dollars for the repairs. This seemed a little steep to me but i didn't feel like installing the parts myself in the frigid cold. I dropped off the car at about lunchtime and asked for a loaner while the repairs were being done. At about 5PM , service calls me and tells me my car is not yet finished and they will have to keep it until tomorrow. So unfortunately my car doesn't get to come home with me....i get to take home a new ES300 piece of **** which btw feels like has no power under the hood. I felt so bad on my ride home from work today without having the luxury and power of my GS400 that i'm accustomed to. By tomorrow i should have my baby back home and repaired.

I guess it could have been much much worse. Did not report to my insurance company...i have a $500 deductible anyway so i would have nothing to gain whatsover for reporting it.

Sorry to hear that. I think the best way to prevent these kind of thing from happening is to park at a place where thiefs would have to think twice to do that sort of thing.

sorry to hear that, but anyone should have an aftermarket alarm and a hoodlock, i said this the 10th times here already.
The lexus alarm is disabled by breaking in by the key lock.

aftermarket alarm may not prevent if the thief really want your car, but that is a different discussion.

Any cook that pass by a car with an aftermaket alarm, they will think twice, because they know it's not as easy and quiet as turning off an "stock" alarm.
Thus goes to any stock alarm of anycar.

The schematic to get both factory and aftermarket alarm to work together is posted on my site

Same thing happened to me in Jersey city. The theifs broke one of my locks looked for a spare key, but only took my car manual. They came back two weeks later and broke my passenger side lock. My 01 GSXR600 was also stolen in the same garage and they poped the lock on my boys 02 m3. His only had one lock. Now that I got the sc I moved the **** away from there. I know how you feel. Its gangsta up in jerze

I feel for you, and I am amazed you are so cool about it. When my car was broken into a year ago, I was LIVID! I was so pissed, I couldn't talk for hours. They too looked for a key, and ended up stealing my CD's, which really sucked. They were 24 of my favority CD's, and quite a few were my own mixes that I will never be able to duplicate.

Hearing your story shows me how badly I got ripped by the dealer. I had only the one door lock busted, and Lexus charged me $500 to fix it. You are getting 2 fixed for only $100 more. It's these rip off prices that continue to remind me of why I never have my dealer do any of my service. They are bigger theives then the bastard that broke into my car!

Sorry to hear about the incident...Believe me, I know how you feel..If I tell you what it's like to park your car and have to worry about driving home in the dark because the headlights were stolen(Acura TL)..It's ridiculous what people do..The pisser is when they break in only to take something in the car, which is why I make sure not to have anything visibly exposed in the car when parked. I remember one incident with my mother's car. She had an '85 Oldsmobile 98 Regency. She loved that car! That was when chrome bumpers were "popular" to steal. In two different incidents, somebody attempted to steal it twice, but was unsuccessful. Although my mom realized that when the bumper was dragging under the car as she was driving. Better yet, the time somebody broke into that car, only to take a bag full of library books and a bowl of macaroni . Who could it be? A hungry homeless guy who likes to read?

mamamia,
any aftermarket alarm would do fine, a fake blinking LED would do also.

I personally like Code , clifford, and Viper.
Prestige alarm is pretty reliabe also. Also need a hoodlock, because if they open your hood and pull your battery, the alarm will die.

Without an alarm siren, the thief can really take their time, look around, enjoy the smell of leather seat, smoke a cigar .... Else, they should be getting the first thing they see and run (criminal psychology 101)

with my current set up, both alarms (factory and aftermarket) will come on at once. It's very loud
probably wake the whole neighborhood up ha ha

FYI: if you don't want to go through the trouble of gettin an aftermarket alarm, then disconnect the electrical connector at the key hole for both doors, you will lose your ablility to low down windows or unlock 4 doors with a KEY, but the factory alarm can't be turn off from the outside anymore w/o the remote control.

I would have to agree with that statement 120%. Gets me thinking maybe its the dealers that go around and pull this kind of stuff for additional revenue?
