im glad you are ok. and i hope everyone is as well.

people dont give their spare tires any thought until they need them.
a lot of people dont maintain them. the full size and smaller can lose air pressure,
and once they are installed, no one follows the max speed printed on the tire. as well as
a lot of people dont get their regular tire replaced asap.

anyways, you can use dot 3 or dot 4. or whatever was in there. if it was dot 3 you can use a
dot 4 that is compatible with dot 3 (itll say so on the label.) i think the smaller bottle is somewhere
around 12 oz and that big bottle should be enough for the whole system.

you might need (2) 32 oz bottles to completely fill AND flush out and more importantly BLEED
out all the air from the system. a bottle is probably only $8 or so.

as for the brake hoses supplied at autoparts stores, yeah those are just fine.

dot 5 is considered over kill for a regular, daily/street driven car. dot 5 is not compatible with anything else, and you would most likely not need the performance of dot 5 on a regular/street car.

dot 5 is silicone based unlike dot 3 and 4, which are glycol based. dot 3 and 4 are compatible with each other whereas dot 5 is not compatible with 3 and 4.

you have to completely flush out your braking system to run dot 5.

but none of that has to do with running synthetic/full syn brake fluid.

ALL brake fluid is synthetic. since polyethylene glycol does not occur in nature = synthetic

here is info straight from lexus:

page 384:
"fluid type: SAE J1703 or FMVSS No. 116 DOT 3"
