Default Are most CPOs come from lease cars?

I'm looking to buy a GS4 this year. After running Carfaxs on the available CPOs in CA, I noticed they were all initially lease cars. So for those of you who bought a CPO, was it a lease car before as well? And what do you guys think of getting an initial lease car CPO? Any response is greatly appreciated!

Hello Dereki in Fremont Ca. What a nice place.

I would venture that most CPO were probably former lease vehicles, mine was. As to what I think, depends on how the former "owner" took care of the vehicle. If it's in good shape then it's a good deal.

Mine was a lease car that the original owner traded in after one year for an LS (needed to haul around clients).

redgs4,
Indeed it is
Can I assume it is in good shape since it's a CPO? I mean, you can't really tell if the previous owner took good care of it after the dealer fix it up to be a CPO.
Which dealership did you get urs from? Which would you recommand?

Not necessarily. My CPO that I leased was purchased by me/the dealership from a customer who lived in Georgia and moved to NY. She didn't need the car anymore. Little did I know that a month later I'd end up taking the car for myself. The GS had on 13,600 miles on it, and was in mint condition, with the exception of a small ding on the rear quarter panel, which I had taken out by the Dent Devil..

CPO is not a guarantee of a getting a car in great condition. It does guarantee that most problems that occur or that you uncover will be addressed. I thinks it's very important to pick the "best" of the CPO's -- perform your own inspection and take the car for a spin. Check out the cosmetics [including squeaks and rattles] and those items subject to normal wear and tear. I tell you this from the personal experience of NOT performing due dilegence on my purchase. And if the car is close [mileage] to a major service, make sure the dealer performs it [the 60K can run over $1000].

You are blessed by living in the greater SF bay area. There are at least 5 Lexus dealerships that are reasonably close. I picked up both of mine at Steven's Creek, but only because I got a great deal on the first and went back to the same sales guy for the second. But I don't use them for service -- I go to Magnussen in Fremont because I like the level of service. Others swear by Serramonte Lexus, if they were closer I would probably go there [they seem the most modification friendly].

Certification is not only skin deep, it means a lot to us, the dealership, and you, the client. first of all, to obtain certification, the car has to "Pass" a very stingent 128 points inspection. Yes, you heard it right, "Pass"! Lexus will not award a certification number until the eligible Lexus meets or exceeds all the certification criterias. Such as brakes, tires, mechanical, electrical, everything is checked out before it is sent to correct any cosmetic imperfection. Cosmetic impecfection I don't mean by replacing bumpers or changing out fenders, but to make sure all the dings and dents are repaired before the CPO is "front line ready". Thus it doesn't matter if the previous owner leased it or not, every CPO will go through the same process. And is it neccessary that a fianace or cash customer usually treats their car better than lease customer? um.... I don't think so, it was just a way of paying for it. So, if you have any more question, feel free to write me back or contact me at Lexus of Serramonte. Hope to talk to you soon!
