im thinking about dong puddle lights.
but I only want them to turn on when I hit the key to unlock the car and stay on for a bit and fade (like the footwells)

does anyone know or can think of a place where I can tap into, to get a light source that only comes on at this time?

I tried searching, but other than a constant source I cant find anything else.

best place is the dome light. you can use the switch for the dome light to control them under on, off, or with door.
