Default Quick question! Need advice/estimate. Ls3 swap.

So iv been doing some searching and couldn't really find what I was looking for.. And i am in kind of in a rush so hopefully some of you can chime in. Long story short. I got rid of my Chrysler. I didn't end up getting an srt8. My uncle got a 99 gs400 in his shop with a completely destroyed motor. The body is good. Very good in fact. And I have the opportunity to pick it up for a solid 1k.. And i was planning on financing a car around 20k.. Im sure U get the point. So how much do you think (a rough estimate) it would be for a new or very lightly used ls3 with tranny And for a shop to do all the work to complete the swap? I am really leaning Towards doing this. I feel that in the long run it would be a alot better (more fun) and a lot less headache then getting a high milage srt8 for 20k.. Not really planning on doing too much engine work like cam/heads/supercharger, prolly just an exhaust and tune, it's going to be my daily, ThanX

If you don't end up buying the shell, I'll buy it from your uncle lol

That's what i was looking into doing too since my friend has a wrecked GTO, was thinking about putting the LS2 in a GS... If you end up doing it, make a build thread!

I'm good on that I love the sound of American muscle. And in my opinion the ls3 makes the most nasty/throaty sound ever! Thanks for the info!

I sure will! And you should do it. Nothing is more mysteriouse And exiting then a car that makes a sound it shouldn't lol. Like the first time I heard a miata with an ls1 lol

Anyone know how long this might take? I need a car ASAP. I am wanting to do this so I will have a somewhat reliable daily driver. I hope it's worth the wait.

these are pretty good estimates....on any swap of this nature, you can count on anywhere between 8 and 10k on the low end. Obviously what you pay for the motor and tranny play a big part in it.
