Man i have this same noise! pretty much only when i almost come to a stop and am braking. If i jack the car up you can't reproduce the noise. It's annoying only because people are like, wtf was that?

Nothing yet.. And I'm in Westchester. Going to try and remove my RCA and see if it still makes it.

Ok. Did you check the sway bar end links? I should of listened to LUXURYGS3 .. I forgot to check them and so did my mechanic. He called me and told me he forgot to check them. Tomorrow I will check them, hopefully thats the problem.

I'm having the same issue with my 01 GS430, so I took the GS to my local Big O Tires and they inspected all the suspension components and they also couldn't find where the popping sound is coming from.

I have the same issue with my 02 GS300. Had a mechanic check it out and he figured that it is the brakes. I get the sound when I back out of garage in the morning - first time I apply the brakes....CLUNK. Then after I shift in to drive...the first time I apply the brakes...CLUNK. Seems the brake pads shift. Sound doesn't come again until I apply the brakes again in the opposite direction of travel. He checked all suspension components and everything is fine. Unfortunately he doesn't have a solution.

If the brakes are really the problem it gives all GS owners a reason to upgrade to the LS brake setup. Haha
