This is almost comical... Sat night, the alternator went bad, no output. We replaced it a while back with a super-inexpensive eBay unit, guess it was time. Picked up a new one on Sun morning, put it in in the afternoon, back to 14.2v.

What bugs us the most is that the battery light doesn't come on until the battery is low, not when the alternator stops putting out current. So the battery light didn't come on until the battery was down to about 10.5v, not when the alternator was not putting out 14.2v.

Any idea if this is "normal" for the GS?

And more work... today, fixed the Nakamichi display... it was lighting, yet not displaying. Turns out when previously removing the front panel, we hadn't first unhooked the copper lead, and had stressed the glue/tape and solder joint on the display side of the cable. Reapplied some sticky, and found some proper tape, sticking the soldered-end back on to the board, and the display is working again... it was really irritating not having a radio display.

So if you remove the front panel... don't forget to disconnect the copper flex-cable from the main board first, and be nice to the cable...

When I bought my GS the passenger headlight had been replaced, so my driver's side light didn't match...

Awesome job. We did a gross-cleaning of all of our non-glass headlights, and it's amazing how much better they look, and how much more light the headlights throw when clean...

Great sub amp replacement at $44 and $0.87 for Squaretrade 2yr warranty I have some peace of mind.

Sounds almost as good as the Kicker CRT 10 I have in my Yukon powered off 500rms@2ohms

Been meaning to do something like this for a while. Can't move the bass past 1/2, and then volume past 1/3, before clipping starts... speakers and amp are too old. Good job!

Updated 99 GS3 with 01+ radio with adapter harness. This allowed me to install Grom BT3 for Aux input and Bluetooth.

Alternator I can see... it takes us two hours to swap one, with removing the p/s pump pulley, and winding it out through the p/s hoses, and removing/installing all the underbody panels... 15min job on a Camry. And it's messy, with the expected p/s fluid all over the place.

Sorry to hear about the radiator... not a job we're looking foward to, one day...

Took off the rear gold badges and replaced with chrome badges. Also replaced the gold center caps on the rims with all chrome ones

Before and after

Now what to do with the old center caps?

4 ouf ot 6 cylinders have 50 psi compression=( Ive had a rough year lately. Found a donor engine for 350$ A local friend is putting in for 800$ Doing vcgs, cam and crank seals and swapping my alternator from old one. I just hope this thing doesnt give me more issues once its back. Half of me wants to sell it and go in debt and get a newer lexus for 15-20k. On a side note, does anyone know where i can get clear headlights for non hid car around the pa,nj,de,md area.

Same thing with mine. What set up do you you have West? Are you running of the stock headunit?
