Default very high oil consumption 2000 gs300

im kind of stumped here. I have a 2000 gs300 with 230,000 miles... it has been using a lot of oil in the past year and recently last month I had an oil change and after about 500 miles of driving the dipstick is dry!!!

I recently had the valve cover gaskets replaced along with some new plugs, no other leaking visible. No oil on the ground. The car runs well, absolutely no smoke, white or blue coming out of the tailpipes, under load and under cold startup in the morning. I even followed my car with someone else driving it to see if i could see any smoke? no dice

can anyone point me in the right direction?

Well, engines arent supposed to consume oil at all, so very high, very low... no bueno. If you see no puddles and your coolant is clear, might be burning oil due to worn piston rings.

First, did you check the stick when the oil was changed, and you are sure it was full 500miles ago? It is possible that it wasn't filled to right level to begin with.

Fill again, and let us know what is happening after 50miles, 100miles all the way to 500miles, etc.

oil level was above the second bump on the dipstick right after the oil change. I would think with that much oil loss I would see some kind of blue smoke , even a little at startup if I was burning it. Car runs smooth as silk, this is the only problem with the car and it is frustrating

did you ever find out what is happening to the oil? I seem think I may be having the same issue as you. I also have a 2000 gs with just under 200k and no other real symtoms....

2JZGE's with high mileage can have bad valve seals which can cause low oil levels.
