Default Clearance issues behind double din

I'm not sure how many people on here have an aftermarket double din with 3 sets of RCA cables installed but for the ones that do, how do you get everything to fit? I'm having the hardest time squeezing everything in behind the radio and I only have 1 set of RCAs plugged in and still have 2 more to install.

If there are any tricks out there to making the install easier, please tell me!

Its been a long itme since I installed mine, but I do remember it is real tight back there with three sets of RCA's and all of the other plugs......it will fit though. Refresh my memory, does the stock plastic air vent tube run behind the radio? If so, you can heat it up with a heat gun until its pliable enough to "form" aorund the radio when you push the radio in to give yourself that little extra clearance. I didnt have to do that though. If you put the radio in without the ash tray in there, you can alos reach up there a little to help work the wires out of the way.

Yes the air box is right behind it. There is some sort of support piece that the bottom of the radio bolts to that makes things much much harder to install. I may cut the center of it out to give myself some room and go from there. Heating that plastic up and pushing it in does seem like a very good idea also. Thanks

What I basically did is place the radio into position about half way, then slowly/carefully pull all your wiring/connections down with your free hand so that they end up under the radio and moreso behind where the ashtray will mount. There is more room down there. Also at first, I had my harness and connections neatly cable tied into one large harness, this looks good but its very bulky, i had to break down that one large harness into 4 smaller harnesses and spread them out in order for the radio to sit flush.

I'm starting to think my dash kit is a piece of junk also. I wanted one with a beveled edge and the only one I found was $10

Zip ties are your friend. Zip each little cluster together and you can easily 'stuff' the wires to the outer sides. If you have external bluetooth, theres room right above the a/c outlets.

as said above, just take your time, there are plenty of places to cram the wires, zip ties makes it more manageable.

Lol thanks for taking the time to do that instead of just saying yes. I wasn't sure if for any reason there were plastic brackets from the factory
