its a brake light, it should only come on when you hit the brakes.

 

i was pulled over for it once on a friday night, and i told the cop the car did not come with one, and actually i have 4 brake lights, b/c the gs has 2 on the trunk lid, which functions as a third brake light. he looked inside my car and was like woah you dont have a third light, ok have a nice day. i have had the car this wqay for 10 years and was pulled over once by a rookie cop. oh by the way i have been told i was pulled over for a non working taillight once, but i got let of w a warning. when i got home my taillights functioned perfectly. its an old cop trick for sure...stay safe!!!

 

Technically isn't the wing or deck mounted light a 5th brake light?

left brake light/s is one, right brake light/s is two, and brake light on rear deck or spoiler is number three

Right, if its made after like 1986 or sumping.....well yea he let me go cause I only had a headlight out, and that was all..... My 3rd brake light is actually led to match the rest of the tails, pretty nice actually..

 

Bought an oem 2gs 3rd break light to install but realized that my rear deck does not have the hole for the brake light to sit in according to bananags' DIY page. What do I do now....?

 

Start shopping for a used rear deck lid with brake light hole.

Does anyone have the template for the dimensions of the hole? I think I'm just gonna look for a template online and cut the hole out myself. I don't want to spend more money than I have to just for this.

 

is there anyway to add the third brake light yourself? i had it on the wing but i removed it, i was planning on using the same led strip from the oem wing and rerunning longer wires to the original connection.

 

That thing is a b***h to remove. I actually cracked the housing underneath where the wires were. I wouldn't advise it, unless you dont care about the spoiler. There's a rubber grommet where the wire runs through and into the spoiler itself to the trunk. You're probably gonna have to just break the whole spoiler apart to get the strip out.

 

only if you were Local..Sighhhhh.... I have a black one with OEM cut out. Its on my gs4, for some reason it came both with spoiler and brake on the deck. i removed the deck one and kept the LED on the spoiler.

 

I just found out that there are lines on the underside of the deck lid I can cut along! FTW!
